Background
The Lakes VW Owners
Club has finally risen from the ashes thanks to the commitment of a
few individuals. The idea of forming a South Lakes based
Club has been the ambition of Colin Hardman (the man who fixes your
VW) for many years. Colin Hardman and Carol Johnson have
turned a love for VW's into their everyday job, running the Motor
Service Centre in Barrowin-Furness. I think everyone who owns
a VW in the South Lakes area knows Col and Carol, they are the
people you go and see when your beloved VW isn't feeling too well.
Other individuals
worthy of a mention in trying to get the show on the road are Tracy
and Richard (Poppy Bus) who put a lot of effort in last autumns
event at Keswick, Castlerigg Farm. This event proved to be
extremely popular, far better than anyone could imagine, so
successful the wheels are in motion for a Spring outing to the same
location aptly named Bulbfest.
Another popular
couple, Kev and Sally (Blue and white Splitty) from Askam have
also been industrious in generating support for events.
Phil and Ruth (that's
us) have only had the "bug" for about three years, but we
are really into the camper scene.
Regular meetings are
scheduled to nominate treasurer, secretary etc to try and make
the club official.
Membership is in
its infancy, details of members etc will appear later.
We are currently
gathering piccys for the gallery, anyone wishing to contribute
photos of their beloved vehicles please email jpeg images to lakesvw@btopenworld.com
