April  2002        North Scale, Walney Island,

 Barrow in Furness

This was the inaugural meeting for the newly formed Lakes VW Club. The day was  sunny but cold.  Everyone had a great time, fuelled by a BBQ courtesy of Colin and Carol. New friends were made and the Lakes VW Club was born.

May    2002       Turner Hall Farm,  Ulpha, Duddon Valley

This turned out to be a wet and windy weekend.  Although only a few braved the weather a good time was had by all.   The magnificent scenery made up for the poor weather and  a warm and friendly pub was found only a mile down the road (Newfield Inn) .  Colin and Carol's BBQ made another appearance to accompany a good few cans.

August   2002     Tatton Park

A great summers day out.  We went to Tatton Park in convoy form Barrow.  Saw some awesome vehicles and picked up some good tips and one or two bargains.

September 2002   Castlerigg Farm, Keswick

This successful event organized by Tracy attracted vans from all over the North West and even as far as Wales.  New friends were made with promises to meet up again next year. This is an ideal site being only 3 miles from the beautiful town of Keswick.  There's a pub right next to the campsite. This meet proved so popular that we are repeating it again in April 2003.

September  2002  Van Fest, Malvern

Colin and Carol informed me this was a great weekend and the sun shone.  Hope to make it next year

April   2003  Castlerigg Farm, Keswick

This was our first outing of the year but our second visit to this picturesque site.  Doris and co made us very welcome even going as far as to identify the  field  (The Lakes VW Owners Club) for our sole use. Around 40 vans made the trek to Keswick and  although the nights were oh so cold! the sun shone on the righteous during the day. Colin's faithful BBQ made another guest appearance and proved to be very popular as the night got colder.  New friends were made with some of our visitors coming from as far afield as Appleby, Wales, Birmingham and Doncaster.

Below are some picccies of our beloved VW's.

May  2003  BBQ Rampside Road

Not a particularly well attended event, but for those who did all enjoyed themselves, basking in almost Med style weather.

June 2003   Coniston Hall Camp

The sun shone for most of the time and for a small new club the number of campers was very encouraging (Approx 15 over the weekend.)  We had visitors from Blackpool and Lancaster who were warmly welcomed.  I have included some piccy's from the weekend,. Hope you all enjoyed the weekend as much as myself and Ruth.  If you have anymore photos please send them to me .

A big thankyou to Ruth, event organiser and Colin for use of his beloved BBQ.

Sept 2003 West Shore Fun Day

What glorious weather we had for this meet, however the turn out was a little disappointing.  Not to worry those who did turn up had a good day.

Maddy needs a special mention for her hard work with the kids as well as Paul and Dianne for organizing the Balloon race.

Sept 2003   Vanfest

What a fantastic weekend,  weather was tropical, evening entertainment good, company good, exceptional weekend.

Journey down was horrendous, but what do you expect on a Friday afternoon.

In total I think there was 14 vehicles from our little club, I believe  Kev and Sally had a free ride home!

OCT  2003   Castlerigg

Ruth and I couldn't make this one.  I believe it was a well attended event despite the cold nights.  Here are a few piccys Maddy sent me.

June 2004  Ulpha
This camp was free, thanks to Bev Elwood's father who generously allowed this event to take place on his farmland adjacent to the River Duddon.  This club event was well attended in spite of the unpredictable English weather.   Saturday night entertainment in the marquee was reported to be lively to say the least and well on till the wee hours of the morning.
